The Allen study area roughly corresponds to the area bounded by the Loosahatchie River on the north, Range Line Road on the east, Frayer Raleigh Road on the south, and Raleigh Millington Road on the west, including the neighborhoods of Sherwood Forest, Normal, the University of Memphis, and the western portion of Audubon Park.
